Prof. Danny Altmann

Danny Altmann is a Professor of Immunology at Imperial College London, heading a research lab at the Hammersmith Hospital Campus. His research focuses on the immunology of infectious diseases like SARS-CoV-2, Zika, and Chikungunya viruses, and he has a longstanding record in autoimmunity research. Currently, Altmann heads an NIHR-funded research program investigating pathogenesis mechanisms and developing diagnostic tests for Long Covid.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Altmann advised various policy makers and international organisations, including UK and EU bodies and the World Health Organisation. He is a trustee at the UK Long Covid Support and co-author of the Penguin Long Covid Handbook.
